A prodigious boxing talent, Manju’s potential was recognised early and she represented India at the 2014 Youth World Championships. Despite a steady progression, her boxing dreams came crashing in March 2017 when she had an ACL injury to her knee. After undergoing surgery, Manju came to IIS in June 2017 and underwent extensive rehabilitation at IIS and a customised return-to-play plan was devised by the sports science team at IIS. In her return to competitive boxing after almost 2 years, Manju put in some impressive performances at the 3rd Elite Senior Women’s Nationals 2018. In 2019, she won the selection trials for the World Boxing Championship and was part of the Indian contingent. She went on to finish the year with a Gold at the 2019 South Asian Games in Nepal.
